Hello

I’m Alexis – holistic parenting and gentle baby expert!

Alexis Fletcher-Reid

I am a registered midwife and nutritionist who has worked with hundreds of families over the past 10 years. After qualifying I set off volunteering in Sri Lanka, practising in New Zealand, and working with private families in the USA. Experiencing the personal journeys many families take beyond parenting, has helped me understand the wide range of family dynamics.

For me, Blossom is about preparing parents for the uncertainty and hiccups along the journey. Calm, supported parents often feel adaptable, able to cope with change, that parenting is just another step in their life.

With the internet available 24/7, it’s completely normal to search, self-diagnose and become overwhelmed by what to do next. Blossom aims to support parents, and parents-to-be, to better understand normal baby behaviour.

Managing expectations in a calm, science-backed, instinct-driven and holistic manner can help make the journey smoother – enabling you to feel more confident (and awesome) in your parenting style.

Qualifications

Testimonals

Being a first time mother is like being in a maze. Harder still are the thousands of opinions. I am so, so thankful I chose to listen to Alexis’ opinion. She is kind and caring but more importantly pragmatic and honest. When things are hard, a caring word is good but an honest, grounding, clear action-plan is worth so much more. This is what she is so good at. With clear plans of attack she helped me sort my little boy’s eczema, sleeping patterns and was there to sort my anxiety with his transition to solids. She has made me feel empowered, giving me the tools to do it myself. Best decision I made was to give her a call.

In the Fall of 2014, we hired Lexi to help us with our then 3 week old as I started the first year of my PhD program. From the moment that Lexi came into our lives, we were at ease. Her kindness, patience, know-how, combined with her medical skills, made her the super nanny we always wanted to have. She made the first year of our lives as parents easy, helping us understand our daughter’s moods, and managing breastfeeding and sleeping issues. She lovingly prepared meals for our daughter, including homemade teething biscuits. Lexi is hands down one of the most amazing people we had in our lives during the first year of our daughter’s life. She helped us feel confident in our parenting and helped to support our every need.

I will never forget the day that Lexi came to work with us.  At the time, I had a 5 month old baby girl with reflux and colic, and was recovering from hip surgery after taking a bad fall.  Our baby was up all night, and as first time parents, my husband and I were completely overwhelmed and exhausted, not to mention my mobility was quite limited.  Lexi came in like a breath of fresh air, full of energy, good humor, patience, and kindness.  She helped in every way imaginable, from coming up with a sleep plan and a new feeding schedule for our child, to encouraging me to exercise and get some much needed rest. She seemed to have an answer to all of our problems. Our family soon achieved balance.  Since then our relationship has grown deeply. We shared laughter, good food, and enjoyed wonderful conversations long after the baby was put to bed. We recently put together a family photo album, and realized that it wouldn’t be complete without Lexi, as she will always be a part of our family!
